Laughter is good. Starting the New Year I was undecided what to do on this blog, I have found it to be a place where I can put my thoughts and forget about them, and hopefully someone reads it and they get something out of it. Too much of what I see written on blogs and the media in general is doom and gloom or someone preaching how you should live or what you should do. I find that to be extremely boring and I personally don’t want to write that crap. We all struggle to find the path of least resistance in a gravity driven world. The world isn’t perfect, it never was and it never will be.
I thought maybe I could write about current events with a philosophical twist. I could keep writing about the crazy things I think of on a daily basis for no reason whatsoever, but then I thought how about a little humor. Sometimes I come up with things just to make people laugh.
In this New Year, I’m going to work on a series for my blog, called Power to the Person. It’s just for humor and to laugh. I like to challenge myself so I’ll see what I can come up with and hopefully it’s funny.
I believe in this politically correct world we live in we actually have become stoic to an extent. People are just afraid to laugh. If you laugh at a joke now for some reason, you may be labeled as being racist, sexist or insensitive. I personally enjoy how different everyone is and laughing at the nuisances that we all have. I do understand some people use humor to hide behind being out right mean and nasty and that’s not what I’m talking about. Humor doesn’t have to be mean, it can be funny. It’s not a bad thing, it’s a good thing. Laughter should unite us, not divide us.
Now that I decided to start the new year with a laugh, ill share with you a story a my friend told me one day that I love to repeat and I know for a fact that he doesn’t care. I may be embellishing it a bit, to try and make it a little bit funnier for writing purposes. JUST LAUGH IT’S FUNNY.
My friend is a smoker, well a closet smoker. He has a wife and children. He didn’t want his wife to know that he was smoking again; I think he told her he quit. Anyway, apparently he would sneak outside at night when he was at home, and catch a smoke in his truck. When he went back in, he would hurry into one of the bathrooms and wash up. I guess he would use some kind of lotion to aid in covering the smell of cigarettes.
I don’t know how often he was outside smoking, or how much lotion this guy was going through on a weekly or daily basis. But since his wife maintained the supplies in the bathrooms she noticed the lotion was getting depleted and a rate that seemed, at least her, suspicious. She confronted my friend about what was going on in the bathroom that so much lotion was being used. I have to give her some respect because I think most women would turn a blind eye to the abuse of lotion in a dark, secluded bathroom in the house.
You might be thinking that he confessed that he was in fact smoking again and he was sorry that he had deceived her. Maybe even beg for forgiveness and promise to never do it again. Seems like the obvious thing to do as most anyone caught in the act would just confess and be done with it. He instead told his wife he was a chronic masturbator, he was ashamed of it and didn’t want to tell her but didn’t think he could stop and she should in fact buy lots of lotion, maybe even bulk, for him to keep in hand. You may be wondering why she didn’t stage an intervention or something because clearly he confessed to an “addiction”. Honestly, I think she felt that chronic masturbation was an intervention, FOR HER. Just kidding I made that up, laughter is good.
I don’t care what kind of a day you are having, you hear someone tell that story and your day just got a whole lot better. Never mind the fact, he was laughing the entire time and had no problem telling his wife he was a chronic masturbator and then telling everyone his story. Now that’s funny. Laughter is good
The Deviant View on why laughter is good
I don’t have much of a view point here, surprise, surprise. I’m not saying we should take a page from the playbook of Nero and laugh like a fool when the entire world is burning around us. All I’m trying to say is we should laugh more.
If you dig it, share it
Deviously yours, King Deviant
